Custom Coffee Table Book Printing for Photography, Art, and Architecture
SunTop Printing specializes in custom coffee table book printing for publishers, photographers, artists, museums, galleries, brands, and institutions. Coffee table books on photography, art, architecture, fashion, travel, brand history, corporate anniversaries, and museum collections are printed in custom portrait, landscape, or square trim sizes with full-color interior pages, large photographs, and double-page spreads.
At its printing factory in China, SunTop completes large-format offset printing, Smyth sewing, and case binding in-house. An offset press proof of selected pages on the selected paper stock provides a direct physical reference for color reproduction, tonal detail, fine printed detail, and printed contrast before the full order is printed.

Custom Sizes and Print-Ready Files
Coffee table books often use custom portrait, landscape, or square formats. SunTop coordinates trim size and sheet imposition with page count, paper caliper, paper grain direction, signature folding, Smyth sewing, and case binding.
Print-ready interior PDF files require CMYK images at 300 ppi at final printed size, bleed beyond the trim line, and sufficient spacing between important subjects or text and both the trim and gutter.
Interior pages, printed case wraps, dust jackets, and printed endpaper artwork, when specified, are prepared as separate print-ready PDF files. The case-wrap and dust-jacket files are based on the specified case dimensions and spine width.
Paper Stock and Offset Press Proof

Gloss coated paper provides stronger printed color contrast and higher surface glare, while matte coated paper reduces glare for image-heavy pages. Selected uncoated paper allows more of the paper shade and texture to remain visible. Paper shade and brightness also influence neutral tones and overall printed color.
Paper opacity affects show-through from the reverse side, while paper caliper and page count influence book-block thickness and spine width.

Representative pages containing skin tones, neutral grays, deep blacks, highlights, shadows, fine textures, and large solid color areas are printed on the selected paper stock using the ink settings specified for the full print run.
The approved offset press proof sets the printed standard for color reproduction, tonal detail, fine printed detail, and printed contrast.
Color Reproduction for Large-Format Coffee Table Books
Color and Detail in Photography and Artwork
Large-format photography and artwork depend on accurate skin tones and neutral grays, clear tonal detail in highlights, shadows, and deep blacks, and visible fabric texture, brushwork, and architectural detail. Large solid-color areas need even coverage across the page.
Color Consistency Across the Full Print Run
The HEIDELBERG Suprasetter 190 images the printing plates used for large-format sheet-fed offset printing on Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 162 / XL 145 and Manroland ROLAND 900 Evolution presses.
SunTop Printing holds G7 Master certification for gray balance and tonality, and ISO 12647 certification for CMYK offset printing process parameters and target values. Pantone spot color matching is used for specified cover logos and brand colors.
During printing, inline spectral measurement compares printed sheets with the approved color targets using CIELAB (L*a*b*) measurements. Delta-E ≤ 1.0 batch color control and 100% inline inspection keep printed color across the full print run aligned with the approved offset press proof.
Double-Page Spreads and Bound Samples
Double-page photographs and artwork can extend across both pages, but faces, text, and other essential details should remain clear of the center gutter. Book-block thickness, signature structure, and case binding affect the actual page opening and how much of the image remains visible near the gutter.
SunTop makes the bound sample to the specified trim size and page count with the selected paper stock and caliper. The sample uses the same signature and case-binding structure as the ordered book. It shows the resulting book-block thickness, spine width, actual page opening, and endpapers. It also shows how much of the double-page image remains visible near the gutter and how any specified dust jacket or slipcase fits the casebound book.

Smyth Sewing and Case Binding for Hardcover Coffee Table Books

The Meccanotecnica asterPRO sews folded signatures through the fold to form a Smyth-sewn book block. The sewn book block is durable and flexible, allowing pages in image-heavy coffee table books to open more naturally.
The KOLBUS BF520 Fully Automatic Hardcover Book Production Line completes case binding, including casing-in. During casing-in, the endpapers are adhered to the inside case boards, joining the Smyth-sewn book block to the rigid case.

A printed case wrap is mounted over rigid boards to form a paper-over-board case, while book cloth forms a cloth-covered case. Lamination adds surface protection to the printed wrap. Foil stamping, embossing, or debossing can highlight titles, spine text, and brand logos.
Printed dust jackets are sized to the rigid case and spine, with flaps folded inside the front and back covers. Rigid slipcases are sized to fit and protect the casebound coffee table book.
Coffee Table Book Inspection
During folding and gathering, SunTop checks fold accuracy, signature sequence, and missing or duplicated signatures. The completed Smyth-sewn book block is checked for sewing integrity before casing-in.
Every coffee table book undergoes 100% final inspection against the approved offset press proof, bound sample, and order specifications.
The inspection covers printed color, page sequence, trim accuracy, and page opening. It also covers endpapers, attachment of the book block to the rigid case, the specified cover finish, cover and spine condition, and the fit of any specified dust jacket or slipcase.
